it was pretty bad here yesterday, the sand in the air has affected us both. one of my friends was about a second away from having a branch go through his windscreen, luckily he just got a puncture! One of my other friends came off his bike last week cause of the wind so I'm glad he wasnt able to drive it yesterday, could have been much worse for him!
I know that there's no rest for the wicked, but I'm one of the good guys - Dylan, The Magic Roundabout :D

This is to show Scott what happens in the UK when we have a light dusting (<2") of snow:

:think   I have often wondered what would happen to the UK if we were to have a Winter like the one in 1962/3. Now that was very bad!

My Mother use to tell me about the Winter of 1947 which was very severe and the family were living in a post war prefab house!

The last bad Winter I can remember around these parts was 1981 but the snow only lasted for 2 weeks or so.
Has anyone ever bought a sofa from DFS at the full price?

I remember the 62/3 winter too.  The snow started just as we were leaving my aunt and uncle's house on boxing day evening and didn't stop for days afterwards.  Everywhere was knee-deep (no gritters or snowploughs in those days either) for weeks on end.  For the life of me I cannot remember any of the schools in our area being closed during that time either.

Having experienced the "driving" in California a few years back, I can fully understand the number of accidents. It was the Wacky Races the whole time .  :scared

I remember it well too. I was 11 and my bro 14 and we walked 2 miles through the snow to get to school on the first day as there were no buses running and driving was a no no. Unbelievably my brother got shouted at by his teacher for arriving late into class! :mad Don't know why my parents didn't just keep us at home :shrug Only about half the pupils turned up. The school was planning to have us all stay the night in the gymnasium on gym matresses. But in the end they got a senior pupil to accompany us as we walked the 2 miles back again. I remember it was very hard going with deep drifts. Can't remember how long we were off school for but I think we were able to go back a few days later once the main road had been cleared. The snow and big freeze lasted for ages. I remember pipes burst in school and flooded the rugby pitch so we used to spend every break time "ice skating" :D
