Annoying. I try to avoid the chains like the plague. Trouble is there are so few independent stores left. Curry's and PC world are another lot who do not like giving you a refund, even whem it is obvious the goods are faulty :grumpy

Did you know that Toys R Us are known as Ties Am We in the Black Country? :laugh

On R4's This Morning programme Michal Hussein was talking to a retired Rear Admiral about Big Lizzie having sprung a small leak during her sea trials.  (Apparently she was letting in about 200lt an hour through a broken seal and is now in dry dock awaiting repair.)  MH tried her hardest to get the Admiral to rise to her bait about faulty workmanship/poor quality parts/etc to which the very laid back Admiral replied along the lines of that's what sea trials are all about, finding the problems BEFORE the ship enters service and, in any case, the repairs won't cost the MoD a penny as the ship is still under the manufacturer's warranty.  You could almost hear MH tearing her hair out at failing :roar.

Here's the story as reported by today's Daily Fail

I listened to this as well. Yes, sea trials are exactly what it is supposed to be. Although the ship has been commissioned into the Royal Navy she has not been signed off as fit for the purpose and there will be many modifications and repairs before Big Lizzy enters service.

Another contentious move as well.  No Fleet Air Arm squadron being resurrected but an RAF  Squadron. 617sqn. The Dambuster's Squadron.  The Fishheads won't like this news and who can blame them really?

My view is and not forgetting nobody, but nobody, ever listens to what I have to say  :D, would have been to resurrect one of the FAA squadrons like 800sqn. for instance, that served on the WW2 Carrier Ark Royal.
This imo would have served the highest traditions of the Royal Navy and everyone would have been happy.

Did somebody say something ?  :D
:think...I don't really think "tradition" should count above strategy. I would have thought that nowadays you need more and more to focus on what is really required.

If that was true TG the MOD would not be buying the F35.   :)

:confused Why does the Government think that a Pub hours extension is a good idea to celebrate Prince Harry's forthcoming wedding?   :shrug

:hmm Smacks a bit of "Us & Them" to me  and not only that P. Harry is getting married at midday so Pub opening hours shouldn't even come into the matter of his wedding.

I thought Mel’s Emporium Bar and Grill was open 24/7, and that words like “clock” was a code word for booze.

If not, you have given me the wrong impression.

It is indeed.  There will be enough boozing going on because of the footie without the need for an hour's extension.  In any case, aren't pubs and clubs open until the early hours of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings already?

Yep indeedy.  They were very lucky.  I'm very surprised the :old chap driving the speedboat pleaded not guilty though.  At the very least I'd want a new boat and fishing tackle, medical expenses and lost wages from his insurers.
