It started snowing here about 10pm last night, and basically hasn't stopped since sad. It was wet here so we didn't think it would lie, but it is  crying

Never, in the almost 34 years we have been here have I seen floods like this!  eek Fields almost totally submerged, 'rivers' pouring out of every gateway on the upper side of the roads. It took me ages to drive home from the shop, traffic nose to tail, queuing up both ways to drive through several torrents. I was actually physically shaking at one point scared So glad I wasn't in my wee Clio!
My Peter Storm doesn't do what it says on the tin and is not waterproof grumpy so got soaked through going back and forth to the car (neighbour gave me masses of stuff for the shop). Think I need a hot bath and a drink!

Terrible, terrible news about the coach crash in Lanarkshire candlelight.  Your first thoughts have to be for the family sad, but my second thoughts were WTF were they (the school and coach operator) thinking, setting off on a school trip in that weather?  A 700 mile round trip to an overpriced tacky theme park?  Was it really that important?  mad

 candlelight

I heard an interview on the radio this afternoon by one pupil's mum. He was meant to go on the trip but didn't think it was safe, so cancelled his place at the last minute. She said herself she was really shocked the whole trip wasn't cancelled sad

Exactly what we were saying at work today! mad  Someone said (apart from the families frown ) what about the poor driver, who undoubtedly had no say in whether he should be driving them in those conditions! comfort

candlelight doesn't bear thinking about! frown

I'm afraid I disagree hide behind sofa.  'I was only obeying orders' is no defence.  If he believed lives were at risk he shouldn't have started the engine.

Would we think it was OK for a pilot to take off in what he believed to be dangerous conditions because the airline had told him to?  grumpy

It always the decision of the pilot whether to fly or not. Whatever company, the buck stops with her/him. Should be the same for a PSV driver, too.
