I don't know about you, but I like yoghurt with a normal amount of milk fat in it, roughly 3-5%. Is it possible in this country to find something like that??? We were in Tesco the other day and almost all the yoghurt was marked as "low fat" or "no fat", the remaining ones weren't marked with fat content, but did find a couple with 7% or higher made with whipped cream roll eyes

Can anyone help me find normal yoghurt, please?

Greek yogurt (or what is sold as such) has a higher fat content.  I thnk you'll just have to look round the supermarkets & se ewhat they have got, Panda. Waitrose is a good bet - I think your nearest is Budleigh Salterton (one of my fave places for a swim in the summer, followed by a lovely fish & chip supper).

Also, you are not far from Darts Farm which is a great (if expensive) place for good food shopping. They used to do a lovely breakfast too - a real Sunday treat. But it's at least five years since I was last there!

You've made me feel hungry now!!

Thanks Biggles. I haven't been to either of those places yet, so I'll take a look there smile Plus I'll check the Greek Yoghurts thumbs up

I can't figure out the fat content but Longley Farm are fairly widely available (up North anyway) these are the yoghurts that they serve to schoolkids and I'm fairly sure you're supposed to give full fat dairy to kids so probably ok.

They do lots of flavours too, I like them!!  Longley Farm

Yeo valley do a whole milk yogurt.

So do Rachels Organic.

Both of these are in most bigger supermarkets, Panda.

Also, creme fraiche (which comes in half & full fat) is great for cooking with - it doesn't split when heated.

rachels and yeo valley are the only ones I buy - they do full fat and low fat versions in various flavours.  they are very widely available, even our small local budgens has them.

Waitrose low fat 'value' * (or whatever they call it range) natural yogurt is one of the nicest I've ever had. Quite sharp, which I like. I use yogurt quite a lot in dressings for salads & this is the best I've yet had.

Edit:  It's called 'Waitrose essentials'

I couldn't say I ever 'like' low fat plain yoghurt, unless it is combined without something else.

I give Ed his daily meds in a marmite-yoghurt mix which he loves.  When I started using low fat yoghurt his little face contorted into a 'sucking lemons' expression, so I have to buy full fat for him big grin

I love yogurt  hungry

Longley farm used to be my favourite, Trish but I can't find them around here now crying

Since I can't find the Longley farm I've taken to Wairose yogurt, especially their low fat which it says is less than 2% fat. Maybe Waitrose wholemilk yogourt may be what you're looking for, Panda thinking Unfortunately Rachels and Yeo valley are too sweet for me.

I'll try the Wairose. If Rachels and Yeo Valley are too sweet, it won't be what I'm looking for. I like plain, somewhat tart yoghurt thumbs up

I was thinking of the creme fraiche last night when we used soured cream in our dinner and it split. I'll have to buy that next time.

I'm a bit confused by the 'too sweet' comment.  Neither Rachels nor Yeo Valley full fat plain yoghurt contains any sugar, no added ingredients at all, it's just live yoghurt shrug

I know they don't contain sugar, AK, but some yogurts are just sharper/tarter than others. It must be down to the original culture I suppose.

I think milk's too sweet too, AK so it's probably another of my idiosyncracies  smile

I see what you mean - probably why I like Rachels.
I can't bear milk itself - six years at primary school being forced to drink warm milk at breaktime, bleeurrgh, the decades cannot erase that memory.
